Spectrum

Spectrum is a calm daily set of seven questions about how big things are. Each round puts two amounts side by side, say keys on a piano against letters in the Hindi alphabet, with both numbers hidden. You pick the one you think is bigger. Then both numbers are shown, so you come away knowing either way. The two are always close in size, which makes it a real choice rather than a giveaway.

How to play

1. Each round shows two amounts side by side. Neither number is shown yet.
2. Tap the one you think is the bigger amount.
3. Both numbers appear and the bigger one is marked, so even a wrong pick tells you the answer.
4. The next pair comes along after a few seconds, or tap Next to move on. You always play all seven rounds.

Scoring and streaks

• Playing all seven rounds keeps your streak going and earns a star.
• Getting four or more right earns two stars.
• Getting all seven right earns three stars.

Sharing your result

When you finish, you get a spoiler-free badge to share. It shows how you did, never the answer, so friends can be curious without spoiling their own puzzle.

Common questions

Is everyone’s set the same?

Yes. The same seven pairs in the same order for every player each day.

What if I have never heard of either one?

That is the game. Guess roughly how big each one is, in tens or thousands or millions, and go with your gut. Rough guesses land right more often than you would think.

What happens when I get one wrong?

Nothing beyond that round. Both numbers are shown, the bigger one is marked, and you carry on to the next pair. Your streak keeps going.
